Frequently Asked Questions
+ How is the learning experience like at Crucible?
Crucible provides an intimate learning environment with classrooms and a class size of no more than 10 students. This allows our tutors to keep general student engagement high and to provide sufficient attention to each student while understanding the individual strengths and weaknesses of each student. During a student’s first lesson, our team will assess the student’s specific areas of improvement needed before recommending which class is best suited for you. We band our students based on schools and ability. In line with our belief of having tailored education, our tutors may offer 1-1 coaching for the first few lessons for extremely weak students. This is done at the same rate as regular lessons and is to help weak students catch up before the join regular classes.
+ What subjects does Crucible offer?
Each class is 2 hours long.
Tertiary: We offer Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Economics and General Paper for A levels / IBDP for both H2/H1 and HL/SL. Classes are separated based on the academic program the student is in.
Secondary: We offer Elementary Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, English, Pure Chemistry, Pure Physics and Geography for Upper Secondary / O levels / IP / IGCSE. Classes are separated based on the academic program the student is in.
We offer English, Mathematics and Sciences for Lower Secondary Students.
Primary: We offer English, Science and Maths for Primary Students.
+ What if my child misses a class?
Students are to attend at least 1 lesson every week.
Students who are unable to attend their scheduled lesson are to inform their respective tutors such that they can attend make-up classes held by the tutor in the week. Make-up lessons are to be completed within the week and will not be carried over. Should the student be unable to attend the physical lessons in the week as make-up, a video recording of the lesson will be sent to the student as a substitute.
+ How much do you charge for your lessons?
Students will have to pay a non-refundable registration fee of $100 upon completion of the registration form which will go towards administrative costs. All prices are subject to the prevailing GST rate.
Students will only be required to pay the registration fee once, regardless of the number of subjects.
Please contact us for more details on term payment.
+ What is the lesson schedule?
As we believe in providing a tailored experience for each student, we prefer new students to come for a trial class so the tutor can gauge the student’s ability before recommending which class is best suited. We believe that the learning environment is very important; our classes are grouped according to the students’ schools and competency levels to provide the maximum benefits.
Regular lessons are held on a weekly basis at a fixed time slot. Attendance is compulsory and students who are unable to make it must inform their tutors 72 hours in advance for a makeup option to be provided within the same week. If a student is sick with a valid MC, a makeup option will also be provided after the student is recovered. Additional intensive revision lessons are held during the school holidays and critical months leading up to the finals.
+ Can I come for a trial class?
Yes, you can book for a trial class here. Our trial classes are charged at the same rate as regular classes and are the same duration ($90.00 for JC/IB students and $80.00 for secondary/primary students, exclusive of GST). All prices are subject to the prevailing GST rate. Payment can be made via Paynow to the company UEN after the trial class.
