Secondary 2

Nurturing excellence; Developing independent learning.

At the core of our secondary programme is our desire to develop resilient students who strive towards breaking through their limits. The jump from primary to secondary is a large one; the jump from lower secondary to upper secondary is arguably bigger. We aim to help students adjust to the new academic expectations required in an efficient manner. From years of experience and feedback, we realised that our job as educators goes beyond the classroom as well. At this critical juncture, students need be motivated and inspired to have a mindset of excellence.

Going beyond the classroom

Given that the academic workload has essentially doubled from primary to secondary, many of our lower secondary students complain they are unable to cope. We address this by working with them on how to schedule their time. Although this goes beyond the usual scope of tuition teachers, we believe it is essential for us as educators to set our students on the right path towards success.

mentoring success

At the upper secondary level, students are exposed to depth instead of breadth of a subject. The inclusion of Additional mathematics and the splitting of General Science to three distinct Science subjects are common issues for many students. To overcome this, our tutors foster a desire for independence and personal ownership amongst our upper secondary students. We sit down with them to do goal-setting and work with them to overcome their individual weaknesses. By taking ownership over their future, students push harder and faster. Read on to find out how we teach each individual subject.

Science

At the Secondary level, students undertake a general science course which encompasses concepts across Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Some schools, especially IP schools, choose to split this to two separate subjects: Physical Sciences and Life Sciences.
